What is the NCR?
The New California Republic, or NCR as it's abbreviated, is a one of the largest factions currently within the former United States. It is, as the name suggests, a massive democratic federation spanning from California to Oregon, Nevada and as of recently, Mexico. Currently the NCR is home to over seven hundred thousand citizens, with the number growing each day as more territory is absorbed into the massive Federation.
The NCR is known primarily for it's old world practices and philosophies in addition to it's military might. Civil liberties, democracy, personal freedoms and self determination are at the epicenter of the ideals of the republic, and thus play into facets of every day life. A common criticism of the NCR's philosophy in this regard is how it failed the old world and lead to it's eventual downfall. Regardless of personal thoughts on the matter, there's no doubt that the philosophy has served them well as of late.
The military of the NCR is comprised of a variety of differing roles and specializations, though the blunt of their might comes from a mass of infantry due to lack of vehicles in the current era, save for a few vertiberds. The NCR's sole special forces unit is known as the Rangers, and serve as scouts and protectors of the people of wastes similar to the Texas Rangers of old. Rangers are often chosen from the more veteran members of the military, although rookie members are admitted if they show exceptional skill.
Currently the NCR are in conflicts with the Great Khans, Brotherhood of Steel, Enclave, and Caesar's Legion, whom they are currently fighting for control of the Colorado river and thus their borders.
