Personality Attributes
Military Discipline - Trained in firearms and combat techniques by the Shi directly, and acquired not only their combat abilities but also their discipline and mannerisms
Constant Reminder - Despite having a "pure" Chinese father and Chinese-American mother, Lam feels a slight resentment for pre-war America and what he believes they did to his long lost relatives.
Feline Curiosity - Lam is an adventurous sort, to a fault. He likes to know everything about where he is, from the alleys of the San Franciscan ruins to the peaks of the Sierra Nevadas. While he tends to be quiet and can avoid conflict, it is ill advised to follow him on these adventures if his companions are not equally eager or silent.
Equipment
Chinese Jumpsuit - A traditional, worn Chinese jumpsuit designed for members of the People's Navy of China.
Chinese Pistol - A similarly traditional, and similarly worn service pistol based on a centuries-old design.
Ushanka - Not actually pre war or Chinese military paraphernalia. Just a hat Lam purchased in San Francisco.

Skills
Soft Stepper - Expert: Lam can walk quietly in enclosed spaces, and his movement is nearly invisible when coupled with poor visibility and the sounds of a firefight
Mending - Expert: Lam may not have had the technical skills his mother had, but he was an expert at mending and repairing torn or worn pieces of clothing. Such a skill is vital to the maintenance of pre-war jumpsuits and artifacts that his people cherish.
First Aid - Apprentice: You don't learn how to stitch a shirt together without being able to do the same to a wound. While Lam is not a fantastic doctor, he has an artistic precision with his needles and cuts that help him to neatly open up and close wounds.

Faction Relationships
San Francisco / The Shi - They are my people, and I am proud to be one of them.
NCR - They are representative of America's pre-war system of government, with all of the corruption and callousness that went with it. However, they treat our people well, and I will neither praise nor detract from them.
Caesar's Legion - I have not witnessed them directly, but the reports I have heard from our other scouts and the caravans say that they are an absolute bastardization and disgrace to the name of the empire they draw inspiration from. Until I see for myself, I cannot know for certain what they are like, but the testimony of my comrades paints them as merely a new breed of Mongols at the gates.
Enclave - The true remains of Pre-War America, but with even greater evils. I am proud that my people directly contributed to the destruction of their operations in the past, but must say that I still hold a grudge against them despite their weakened state. Ideology can survive absolute destruction, so long as there are survivors to tell a tale.
Raiders - Men that live like animals and behave as such will be treated accordingly. They loot, rape, vandalize, pillage, maraud, and perform all other heinous acts. To me, putting down a raider is doing a mercy to them, for they have forsaken their humanity and no longer deserve to live.

Background
Lam's ancestors and family are members of the Shi, a group of Chinese whose submarine was marooned in San Francisco shortly after the Great War. Ironically, his ancestors found themselves in the old Chinatown, and quickly established a place for themselves among the ruins with their knowledge of technology and impressive equipment. Yam's father was a direct descendant of the crew of this vessel, while his mother was a direct descendant of the Chinese Americans the soldiers mingled with on arrival. His father is employed by the Shi as a guard to the "Emperor", while his mother spends her time working as an engineer on sets of Power Armor and advanced technology.
Lam himself grew up rather well, as the strength and resolve of his people kept them protected from almost all external threats. They were largely isolationist as a people, but still proud of their heritage and friendly to smaller bands of outsiders. With a father that served the Emperor directly and a mother that was high ranking among her colleagues in the engineering field, Lam had the respect, prestige, and wealth needed to receive both a classroom education and worldly knowledge. Lam found joy in artistic work, and took pride in how he repaired and mended his books, clothing, and the garments of others. Much of his work and time was spent alone, but he still learned to understand people and how they functioned. Psychology, sociology, and the history of peoples was fascinating to him, and much of Yam's free time was spent learning about these things by watching how others behaved.
When Lam came of age, his father recognized his son's aptitude for perception and human behavior, and relayed this to his superior. Shortly after, Lam was moved from his job as a tailor and was provided with a different, difficult, and long term assignment.
