Ltn. Wilson - He's our C.O. here, I don't see him around much. I'm glad he let me keep doing administration stuff, instead of just sending me out on patrols.
Sgt. Miller - He's the only NCO here, he keeps trying to train me to fight better...I'm not really a fan of doing that, but he uh, seems to care enough to check in on me.
The Tall One - You gave me a necklace....why? Is this a trick?
The Young One - You took the only thing I had left...please leave me alone...
The Woman - Why are you free, but I'm not? It's...not fair!
Background
Alyx was born to a junkyard family, deep in the midst of the Boneyard. Her parents would have their own shop, salvaging and repairing various mechanical items. Growing up, Alyx was often used as little more than a pair of small hands and arms, useful for getting hard to reach items worth salvaging. Once in her teens, and having grown up some, she convinced her parents to let her start doing more in-doors type work, handling finances, inventory, and things of that nature. She helped her parent's business grow, organizing what was previously just kept in her parent's heads, and often forgotten. Things such as bills and invoices for a customer, often going unpaid because they simply forgot.
Their shop's newfound success under Alyx's simple organizing lead to an influx of caps, something that was previously a rarity in their household. Often times living week to week, just like any other person trying to survive. The money went to her parent's heads, often spending it on alcohol, and drugs in an attempt to relive their youthful, carefree days. The shop quickly turned to shambles, Alyx herself having never shown any interest in anything mechanicly related, could do little than to record the demise of their business.
A few months had passed, both of her parent's addiction to alcohol and drugs would have taken their toll in more ways than one. Her mother would overdose on jet, while her father would be to stoned to even bury her. Alyx would do her best in giving her a proper burial, behind their shop. Alyx could do little in her pleading attempts to get her father back on the right track. Without anyone working that wasn't stoned out of their mind, the shop would quickly be obtained by the state, due to the lack of payment on taxes.
Her mother dead, father an addict, and without a home, Alyx made the decision to seek work elsewhere. She'd spend what little caps she had on buying as much Fix-It as possible, giving them to her father in a desperate hope that he might still be able to pull himself out of the pit he crawled in. Afterwards, she left to join the NCR, just hopeful that she'd be able to earn a living somehow with them.
Alyx had always been keen on doing what she was told. A biproduct of being raised by her strictly harsh, often abusive parents. After enlisting with the NCR, she was noted for never questioning any orders given to her, and doing what she was told to do. Her only lackluster performance would be with handling firearms, and tactical excercises. Physically fit, and just as smart as anyone else, she deeply lacked any desire to even handle a firearm. However, she'd manage to pass all of the NCR's requirements, just barely in terms of shooting, however.
She was quickly transfered down south to Dayglow, far away from the prime focus going on in the region, being the Dam at New Vegas. Her inexperience and poor marksmanship was something that wouldn't be of any use in the upcoming second battle. Once arriving at Dayglow, she was quickly placed in a administrative assistant position. Her duties often included organizing files, filling out paperwork, and performing inventories. She would be stationed there for several months, before hastilly being transfered to New Delta. Answering a call for reinforcements, Dayglow would send the only trooper there that could barely fire a gun, if only for the sake of keeping around those that could. With most forces being drawn to the Dam, Dayglow would be wary of transfering the remanining useful troops it had. Being the newest trooper around, and least useful in the field, Alyx was given a rucksack full of supplies, and sent along with a regular caravan to the distant town of New Delta.
