What Characters do you RP as?: Sarah Gabriels
I am Applying for: Preferably an event based staff position, whatever has been given to some of the current staff so they may focus on events and such.
I think I should have this because:
Okay, so let's get into the meat of this.
Personally, I know some of the staff - in fact a majority of the staff that work here - from another community. I'm the head producer of said community (worked there for three years now), and in this position, it has always been an interest of mine to work on and develop stories for the players. Part of doing that job is to dispense events on the fly, whether it be a big story or little, and even if it's not a massive storyline, our black market system has showed that we're capable of pumping out smaller scale, individualized events that are mostly unique to one another, each one with its own story compared to the last.
Though, with the few freedoms that a schema such as HL2RP provides, I tend to run into this cookie cutter fetch quest infinite loop, which admittedly still works for entertainment. However, I seek this position here because of the sheer shitload of diverse factions and groups that I may utilize in events, and so many event ideas are in my mind that I'd rather carry them out myself than place them in a suggestion thread, as the current staff here have their own stories to be developing and finishing, where after that, they can handle things that the players mention.
I would like to mention that I also am interested in this position because of the number of staff from my primary community, who can hopefully vouch for what I've done in the past and intend to do from here on out. I bring up this community a lot, and I'd like to clarify that I'm not actually required to be there as much lately, so my activity is covered if anyone has concerns about that.
So with regards to the content that I plan to produce, I'm a very independent type of person. While I can work well with the other staff here, I'm usually going to be fiddling with Nutscript (mainly because now I'm obligated to learn it if I want to produce good anything around here) and working with what I have. Sure, you have all of these massive, planned out events down to the letter, but I intend to fill the downtime with smaller, more individual-specific events, just little things that people would leave town for. Currently, I think there's too many big hive-minded jobs working towards a common goal whereas you could utilize the individual players for their own ideas to solve something, instead of 10 people working on how to do a singular plan given by the event coordinator.
I could rattle off a few ideas here, and conclude with some vouches.
Also, a side note - I plan to figure out a decent way to improve the pace of S2RP events, akin to what Bizon has already produced for us, as well as work on a consistent system for S2K events, which will be PvE. If I ever do an S2K portion in an event, I'll notify the players before the job actually starts.
S2K - The settlers receive a hint that incites them to deploy out and come across a destroyed raider encampment/convoy. In scrapping the wrecks, they'll find out that their attackers were ghouls. Through the sheer noise they make by hosing down an onslaught of ghouls, it transitions into an S2RP fight with a Deathclaw.
S2K - Raider camp fights. Come on now, guys. Sometimes I'd rather see 2 minute fights for 20 dead bodies instead of 30 minute fights for 6 dead bodies.
S2RP - As for this section, I need to tinker a little with things before I write a plethora of events, but when I see S2RP, I approach it in a very 'Wild-Wasteland' style. Whether it be replicas of the teddy bears attracting super mutants (replacing mutants with something else) or a drugged out raider trying to 1v1 a Gecko.
Once I've grown a little more comfortable with this, I'll start trying to put the players into the same high risk, high action engagements like Bizon, perhaps raiders swarming a building or the settlers having to run their asses away from raiders carrying molotovs.
Anyways, another thing I've contributed to the server is giving music tracks to be played throughout the S2RP events, essentially I try to work on as much as humanly possible.
With that all said and done, I hope I've proven myself worthy of getting this position.
